The system PSS is an instrument that has been created in order to handle the flow of the prototype production.

With PSS it is possible to handle the following :

• Administration flow of Request/Offer/Invoice
• Control of the production process
• Planning of the orders
• Positioning of the resources
• Positioning of the equipments
• Industrial accounting of the production costs

Upon a request received by telephone, fax or e-mail, the operator has the possibility to fill in an estimation that contains all the expenses, defined in special tables. The offer will be send by e-mail from the program to the requiring person and will be awaiting an approval, if any, that can be done by WEB. Once the offer is accepted, it will be transformed into a project to which a date of start and finish will be assigned.

The project will be made of one or more working phases, which can be carried out in sequence or in parallel, based on the planning foreseen by the production managers. Only one phase will produce the final product, whereas all the other phases produce semi-finished or are just phases of set up or maintenance.

The resources used for the production has the possibility to assign themselves to one of these project phases, by applying their personal microchip cards inside an interactive Totem which, after identification, allows the association to a project and to a selected phase. This operation determines the start of a working session which can be finished by replacing the card in the Totem and in case of production phase, the system will file the good products and the out of standard products.

The persons in charge have the possibility to know in real time how the production is going both during the phases of semi-finished products and final products and will be able to understand through the special projections if the workers positioned in that moment are sufficient for carrying out the order in the established time.

With PSS he can optimize the use of the personnel by assigning dynamically and with remarkable velocity other projects, without having to create a preventive plan of the recourses, but by re-dimensioning the working teams each time the circumstances require it.
The persons in charge can continuously control the state of advancement of all the projects and this will enable them to monitor both the correct progress and the joint with the other projects of variable length.

When using the calendars of equipment occupation, they can have an overall vision of the positioning of all workers at their disposal in function of time; this will allow them to plan the orders in a rational way and to predict acceptable lead-times to their customers.

Tansferring the operation of positioning of the resources directly to the workers, will allow the production managers to concentrate themselves merely on the organization and the supervision of the system components, so avoiding to carry out heavy manual operations that are necessary for accounting the production costs.

PSS supplies a valid and easy help, useful both for the comprehension of the production processes as for the evaluation of the differences between expected costs and real costs.

PSS is a system that allows to increase the knowledge and the experience and when you use it as an “expert” system, it allows you to refine the “prediction” and therefore the optimization of the profit margin on the orders, besides the competitiveness in comparison with other companies.
